Madeline von Foerster
dicembre 12, 2011 da Giovanni Cervi
Madeline was born in San Francisco. To create her unusual paintings, Madeline uses a five century-old mixed technique of oil and egg tempera, developed by the Flemish Renaissance Masters. Ancient references are mixed together with contemporary visionary and issues. The painting above – While You Were Sleeping – in her words: we read that species are going extinct every day, yet this concept is difficult to grasp. There is no alarm bell, no signal of any kind, to announce the terrible event. Inspired by the Borges story “The Secret Miracle,” I envisioned this spontaneous combustion occurring at the moment when the last rhinoceros is killed in the wild.
You can see it live at Roq La Rue Gallery now!
