Osart Gallery è lieta di annunciare la retrospettiva dedicata all'artistaAldo Tagliaferro (Legnano, 1936 – Parma, 2009). 

La personale, a cura di Alberto Zanchetta, in programma dal 21 Giugno al 6 Ottobre 2018, presso la sede di Osart Gallery, in Corso Plebisciti 12 a Milano, si propone di valorizzareil lavorodell'artista attraverso la selezione di opere uniche appartenenti a uno storico e specifico ciclo di ricerca, MEMORIA-IDENTIFICAZIONE - in una variabilità temporale,che si colloca in un periodo importante durante il quale Tagliaferro entra a pieno titolo in quella che viene considerata la sua definitiva fase concettuale, mettendo a punto un nuovo metodo di lavoro – per progetti – a cui resterà fedele per tutta la sua carriera.

Alla base del grande lavoro di Aldo Tagliaferro c'è l'analisi costante dell'essere umano,del suo eterno confronto con il proprio Io e con l'ambiente che lo circonda.

La sua ricerca, oltre ad esaminare criticamente eventi del contesto sociale, dagli anni Settanta in poi si orienta verso una direzione più specifica del comportamento umano, sviluppando altresì un’indagine sulla memoria e sull’identificazione che pone in relazione la realtà con un momento intimistico.

Nell'analisi di MEMORIA-IDENTIFICAZIONE - in una variabilità temporale, Tagliaferro utilizza due componenti (la memoria e l’identificazione, che ritiene parallele al punto da sovrapporsi) la cui somma, come afferma l'artista, «dà, attraverso le esperienze consumate, una conoscenza del proprio io.Questo può diventare condizionante in un tempo presente, perché il nostro comportamento è dato dalla somma tra le nostre esperienze assimilate e la sollecitazione di nuovi stimoli, che tendono continuamente a modificarlo, in rapporto al tempo reale che è il presente».

La mostra si apre nella sala principale con due importanti opere su tele emulsionate: il dittico Particolare “IDENTIFICAZIONE MNEMONICA” (1972) e lamonumentale installazione di nove metri dal titolo IDENTIFICAZIONE IN UNA VARIABILITÀ OGGETTIVA TEMPORALE(1973). Le opere si caratterizzano sia per l'utilizzo di un insieme di elementi teso a creare diverse possibilità di interazione, sia per le sue ripetizioni variate in una scala di colori dal bianco al nero e per la possibilità demandata al fruitore di scegliere un “fotogramma di identificazione” a sua scelta. Nello spazio espositivo della Osart Gallery le fotografie di grandi dimensioni vengono inoltre allestite in modo da invogliare i presenti a sentirsi partecipi dell'ambiente evocato.

Nella seconda sala, la mostra prosegue con un piccolo nucleo dedicato ai progetti realizzati nel 1972: Studio per: MEMORIA-IDENTIFICAZIONE - in una variabilità temporale,MEMORIA-IDENTIFICAZIONE(variante blu) eProgetto per MEMORIA-IDENTIFICAZIONE - in una variabilità temporale.Qui è possibile visionare la genesi della riflessione incentrata sulla memoria; la stessa immagine fotografica, che caratterizza le tele emulsionate, viene infatti ripetuta su fogli di cartoncino, quasi a volerla rendere temporalmente verificabile.

La teatralità della grande installazione e l'unicità delle opere selezionate diventano, per chi guarda, una sorta di materializzazione fisica della scena, la quale permette di comprendere in modo filologico la progettualità e la processualità di uno dei grandi protagonisti dell'arte concettuale all’interno del panorama internazionale.

 

Nota biografica (1936-2009)

Aldo Tagliaferro nasce a Legnano nel 1936. Agli inizi degli anni Sessanta si dedica pienamente alla professione artistica e nel 1963 tiene la sua prima personale a Legnano.

Dopo un periodo di riconsiderazione del suo lavoro, inizia una documentazione e un'analisi del contesto socio-politico e del comportamento dell'uomo. Per essere più vicino alla realtà utilizza delle immagini fotografiche recuperate dalla cronaca. 

Nel 1969 aderisce alla Mec-Art e dal 1971 in poi prosegue la ricerca fotografica in modo autonomo. Tra le sue esposizioni ricordiamo laXXXV Biennale di Venezia (1970),Combattimento per un'immagine(1973),Fotomedia(1974-1975).

Osart Gallery is pleased to announce the retrospective dedicated to the artist Aldo Tagliaferro (Legnano, 1936 - Parma, 2009). 

The solo show, curated by Alberto Zanchetta, scheduled from June 21st to October 6th 2018 at the Osart Gallery, Corso Plebisciti 12 in Milan, aims at enhancing the artist's work through the selection of historical and unique works that belong to a specific cycle,MEMORY-IDENTIFICATION - in a temporal variability, which is placed in an important period during which Tagliaferro enters fully into his definitive conceptual period, honing a new working method - that is for projects - to which he will remain faithful throughout his entire career.

At the heart of the great work of Aldo Tagliaferro is the constant analysis of the human being, his eternal conflict with the "I" and the environment that surrounds it. 

His research, in addition to critically examining events in the social context, from the 70s onwards is oriented towards a more specific direction of human behaviour and, looking at different aspects, develops an investigation on memory and identification relatingreality with an intimate moment.

In the analysis of MEMORY-IDENTIFICATION - in a temporal variability, Tagliaferro uses two elements: memory and identification, because - as the artist said - «the sum of both these, parallel up to overlap, gives a knowledge of our self through lived experiences. This can affect us in the present time, because our behaviour is given by the sum of our assimilated experiences and the push towards the new, which change in relation to the real time that is the present».

The exhibition opens in the main room with two important works on emulsified canvases: a diptych Detail "MNEMONIC IDENTIFICATION"(1972) and the monumental installation, composed of ten canvases, titledIDENTIFICATION IN A TEMPORAL OBJECTIVE VARIABILITY(1973). Behind this works there's a set of elements used to create different possibilities for interaction between a photograph dated 1882, its repetitions varied in a scale of colours from white to black and the possibility, for everyone who looks at them, to choose their own 'identification frame'. The large photographs are set up in the exhibition space in order to encourage the audience to feel part of the evoked environment.

In the second room, the exhibitionmoves on with the section dedicated to the projects created in 1972: Study for: MEMORY-IDENTIFICATION - in a temporal variability,MEMORY-IDENTIFICATION (blue version)and Project for MEMORY-IDENTIFICATION - in a temporal variability.

Here it is possible to view the genesis of the artist's focus on Memory. The same photograph that characterizes the canvases is repeated on cardboard as if to make it temporally verifiable, so suggests Tagliaferro when he defines the four ways of using the photographic image.

The uniqueness of these selected works and, above all, the theatricality of the installation become, for the viewer, a physical materialization of the scene that allows us to understand, from the philological point of view, the complete project vision of one of the greatest protagonists of conceptual art.

 

Biographical notes (1936-2009)

Aldo Tagliaferro was born in Legnano in 1936. At the beginning of the 60s, he devoted himself to the artistic profession and in 1963 he held his first solo show at Associazione di Legnano.

After a period in which he reconsidered his work, he begun a documentation and analysis of the socio-political context and of human behaviour.

Photographic images borrowedfrom news sections brought him closer to reality. In 1969 he joined the Mec-Art. From 1971 onwards he continued his photographic research in an autonomous way.

Among his exhibitions, we can recall the 35th Venice Biennale (1970),Combattimento per un'immagine(1973), Fotomedia(1974-1975).
